| The hospital grounds are as welcoming as one might imagine. Smiling Nurses greet visitors at the main entrance, while patients pass by with a polite nod. But beyond this polished scene is a world that is only spoken of in the fears of patients and the threats of staff… Behind the locked steel doors of Ward 24 the most volatile cases are kept. Sealed from the rest of the world, the unmanageable and violent patients regress once admitted. These are the patients who have refused to move forward, and have only moved into the darkness. The doctors who staff the area have resorted to treatment and therapy considered as sinister as the souls confined within the walls of this secluded ward. Once a patient is committed, they are a resident for their remaining days. Each patient wears their curse across their forehead, a permanent reminder to others and themselves that they have no place in the world but within the confines of Ward 24. |

Join us October 30 for our costume contest, The Witches Ball. Noon till midnight. Kids custom contest in the day time. As it gets darker so does the live music throughout the day. Enter for a chance to win free tickets to our halloween ghost hunt of the main building. Proceeds from the ticket sales for the 2010 event will go to the preservation and restoration of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum which is a designated National Historic Landmark. i have been to the asylum a few times and each time i have gotten pics and evp's. i had my hair touched and whispers in my ear. lily grabbed my pant leg and went with myself and a friend on our tour. loved every minute of the tour. i also got a pic of the doctor. what a great night i had. the tour took place on halloween of 2009
